Thank you for your interest in the Akron JATC Sheet Metal apprenticeship program. There are a few steps that need to be taken in order to be accepted into the four-year sheet metal apprenticeship program. Below you will find a list of those steps.
8:00 am - 3:00 pm
Complete our in-person application
- Stop in the JATC union hall to fill out an in-person application and sign up for an interview. Interviews are held on the 3rd Thursday of every month.
Gather required documents for scoring process & email to the JATC secretary
- High school transcripts or GED
- Valid Driver's License
- Any certifications
In-person Interview
- Applicants who have completed steps 1 and 2 will be signed up for an in-person interview on the 3rd Thursday of every month with the JATC board members
Scoring process
- Once the interview is complete and the required documents have been received the applicant will be scored and placed on a ranking list, as contractors need a new apprentice the first person on the list is offered a job and will start the apprenticeship.
- You will be required to pass a drug test before employment starts
After being accepted into the apprenticeship program, you will work for a contractor and complete the 4-year apprenticeship program that is made up of day and evening classes depending on what school year you are currently enrolled in
